Privacy law is developing rapidly. Four states already have comprehensive privacy laws, and there is the potential for more states to pass similar laws, as well as for federal privacy legislation or agency rulemaking. Outside the US, GDPR enforcement is ramping up and data transfer issues are becoming trickier. This presentation will analyze trends in US privacy law at both the state and federal level, as well as relevant international issues. We will discuss topics that are addressed in the new state privacy laws, such as targeted advertising and the regulation of sensitive data, as well as enforcement priorities in both the US and internationally.
