Cybersecurity – A Fundamental Pillar of Privacy

Many of today’s privacy risks stem from cybersecurity threats. Ultimately, cybersecurity is a fundamental pillar of modern privacy, even though privacy and security dialogues are often siloed from one another. This session will illuminate what today’s threatscape means for complying with risk-based data protection and impact-based breach notification requirements found in data protection laws such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Attendees will learn about the practical ways in which the equities of a Chief Privacy Officer are aligned with those of a Chief Information Security Officer.
