Over the past few years, the number of lawsuits against companies alleging wrongful collection of data has increased considerably. This panel, hosted by Beazley Insurance Company, will discuss the types of data collection practices that lead to lawsuits under the Illinois Biometric Information Protection Act (“BIPA”) and other statutes governing the collection of data, including some unexpected statutes. The panel will also discuss ways to try to prevent such liability through risk management and regulatory compliance.
