This session will provide context on the changes taking place within the advertising ecosystem—cookie and browser updates, mobile app identifier changes, emerging technical alternatives, and more. These changes are occurring alongside, and in many ways in response to, the evolving legal landscape and increased regulatory scrutiny.  Recent updates in both areas will be unpacked by our panelists. It also remains critical for organizations to understand what tracking technologies they utilize on their desktop/mobile websites, mobile applications, and even IoT-connected devices—and how to convey this to consumers and regulators effectively.

With this in mind, during our interactive session we will:

  • Discuss the most common forms of tracking technologies–old and new–and how they fit into the overall digital advertising ecosystems of today and tomorrow, including major new proposals and alternatives;
  • Address strategies for affording consumers meaningful notice and choice, and relate how to analyze whether cookie usage/tracking technologies may be a “sale” under certain state privacy laws;
  • Provide practical takeaways from recent EU and U.S. enforcement actions and investigations involving ad tech-related practices; and
  • Overview how to craft a public-facing cookie policy that helps an organization meet regulatory and business best practices.
